We have been asked on several occasions if a license is required to perform makeup applications. After contacting the secretary of state, we received the following answer. Please see actual email response below. 

Here are a few items we would like to clarify. Makeup artists are allowed to practice as long as such artist does not perform: waxing, tinting, or trimming of brows. This should be performed by a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist. Makeup artists are also not permitted to apply Eyelash Extensions. Eyelash Extensions are NOT the same as False strip lashes and individual lashes. Please also see the definition of eyelash extensions provided below. Eyelash extensions require a specific surgical-grade glue that is not commercially available to the general public and are considered semi-permanent. Makeup artists ARE allowed to apply false and individual lashes.
